What is Addictions

Addiction Definition: Anything that you cannot lay down by an act of your will is an addiction.
What controls you rules you! It has become your Lord - - something within you controls you.
You can be addicted to anything – soap operas, gambling, relationships.

Satan’s Kingdom used many devices to control us with our needs. If you are a relationship because of a need it is addictive and ungodly. The LORD is well able to be your husband and is only willing to share you with others properly!

How do you determine if a relationship is addictive? If attitudes or thoughts come up inside you of envy, jealousy, anger, or control when that person talks with someone else, you are in an addictive relationship.

The force behind addictions is the NEED TO BE LOVED!! And it can take you into a place where you can find love in all the wrong places and wrong ways, such as through a chemical.

The scripture teaches us 3 classes of addictions ~ Galatians 3: 1-3

O Foolish Galatians, who hath bewitch you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? This only would I learn of you, received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

Spiritual Bewitchment is when we have believed a lie and moved away from the simple truth of the gospel Matthew 22:37-39

You shall love the Lord thy God with all of thy heart and thy soul and thy might and you shall love your neighbor as yourself. Upon this all of the law and the prophets hang.

The foundation of love is breached, and an addiction is the result, bringing separation from God, self, and others.

When we allow the enemy to get us to a place where we don’t accept who we are in the new birth by adoption in the Kingdom of God and stop arguing with God, self, or others and our place in the Kingdom of God which causes us to not accept the Love of God, love our selves and receive love from others we will look for a fit to meet our need to be loved.

When we don’t accept ourselves, the first thing that happens is that our serotonin levels drop.

Serotonin is a neurotransmitter released out of the nervous system, out of the dendrites, or in the basal ganglia, which is part of the brain stem.  Serotonin is the “Feel good” Hormone.

Mind – Body Connection

The enemy can manipulate our thoughts, which causes our bodies to secrete less serotonin. The Hypothalamus and brain stem assist in regulating serotonin levels.

If we do not feel loved in any area by God, self, and others, the enemy can cause a hypothalamus/brain steam connection to reduce serotonin levels.

When you don’t feel right physically/spiritually you have a serotonin deficiency

Taking you peace in God, ourselves, and others, the hypothalamus will recognize the fulfillment and signal the brainstem to release serotonin, causing your spirit and body to come into balance and completeness in HIM. “Peace give I unto you but not as the world gives, give I unto you.” Jesus said.

The enemy is the only one benefiting when your serotonin levels are imbalanced. Taking a
 serotonin enhancer to make you feel better leads to an addiction to the drug and creates a chemically altered state of consciousness, producing false peace. With the drug, you may feel better about yourself, but you still have an unloving , unclean spirit operating, and you may feel unsatisfied and be tormented.

Thoughts are being produced that cause a person to go into areas of fulfillment, such as pornography. The root of pornography is the need to be loved, not lust.

The need to be loved is the strong man of pornography. Lust fuels the release of dopamine, which is another neurotransmitter. Dopamine a feel good neurotransmitter. For a person to compensate biologically for the spiritual deficiency, they have to get a rush.

Cocaine operates on this principle: the first hit of cocaine releases all of the dopamine in the body, and the rush of dopamine is the same as in an orgasm in a proper relationship with husband and wife. The rush only comes at that one time because God puts checks and balances on promiscuity. Dopamine takes two years to come back to full value once that rush occurs, and the cocaine addict keeps searching for the rush in every hit.

An altered State of Consciousness by chemicals violates creation. The enemy knows he can alter your chemistry by how you feel about yourself. The chemicals alter your conscious state to a chemical peace, not the peace Jesus gives.

Biblical Scriptures on Addictions

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Perfect peace belongs to those whose minds or hearts are fixed and stay on the Lord.
Is 26:3

The ability to give and receive love is part of our creation, and the need to be loved is built into us from creation.

Rejection by parents through abandonment brings a predisposition to addictions.

Lots of these people go to food for nurturing because the lips are the nurturing. Even in cigarettes, it’s not the nicotine that hits the lips for nurturing and the need to be loved.

It is difficult to walk away from your addictions while still feeling unloved. When a person does, what usually happens is cross-addiction, laying one addiction down and picking up another.

To come out from under these addictions, we must recognize the spiritual bewitchment, the lie that we are listening to, that we’re not loved by God, and that we do not belong on this planet and we don’t love ourselves, and the lie that others don’t love you. If someone doesn’t love us, that is their loss, and we do not have to carry their sin into our bodies to destroy us.

*The Lord revealed to me the week before I went to Pleasant Valley Church that I had become one with the thought that I did not belong or fit in. When He revealed that to me, and now that I am studying addictions more closely, I believe the area of control has been huge, especially controlling my environment through, at times, isolation of myself from certain situations or individuals. As I am growing in my discernment and recognizing these spirits, I realize that matter of choice is right there: am I going to come in agreement with what I realize, or am I going to stop the thoughts and ungodly interactions immediately to move on in HIS perfect plan for my life each moment of every day!!

Galatians 5:19-21
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like; of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

“Do” means in Greek ~ habitually practice as away of life, not a single act.  The 3rd killer of people in American last year was death from prescription drugs.

 
Death from illegal drugs doesn’t even rate in the top ten.
When a person thinks they weigh too much and do not like themselves, it slows down their metabolism. According to science, weight is strictly based on the rate of metabolism. Scripture tells us that we become what we think. When we do not like ourselves, our metabolism slows down; therefore, it doesn’t matter what we eat, our body doesn’t burn it. So start loving yourself, and your rate of metabolism will increase, and you will lose weight easier.


Let’s look at Luke 11: 19-22

And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore, shall they be your judges. But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you. When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace: but when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils. Listen carefully to the invisible kingdom that’s behind addictions –

Verse 19 if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? What Jesus was saying was if I by the power of the Satan cast out devils whose casting the devils out of your children?

Jesus says but if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the Kingdom of God is come upon you.

The invisible kingdom: verse 21 when a strong man armed keepeth his palace, (human being) his goods are in peace. This speaks of a control of Satan’s control over a human.

The strong man is the principality, the unloving spirit controlling the person's life. Many other spirits are reinforcing the unloving spirit that gives it power. Bitterness is held in place by the 7 underlings: unforgiveness, resentment, retaliation, rage, anger, hatred, violence, and murder. (Bitterness Teaching) A person may say I just want to get rid of my bitterness. Well, they can not without getting rid of the entire power structure holding the bitterness in place, giving the bitterness the authority in your life. Jesus is teaching the reality of evil spirits in the life of humans.

When an evil spirit is cast out, it wanders through dry places seeking a place to rest ~ finding none, it will come back to the original house (human being) to see if the person is filled up with the word of God and being renewed or if the person is empty, garnished and swept clean it will come back bring 7 others with it, making the person in a worse state then before. The evil spirit is in torment when not in a human being, and when in a human, the evil spirit is in peace, and the human is in torment.

If someone says, “I don’t know about or like the word evil spirits,” that is a fear of evil. What you are saying is Satan is more excellent than God. Satan is not and will never be bigger than God unless we allow him to be. According to your faith, be done unto you.

The unloving, unclean spirit must be dismantled in a person's life who has addictions that cause the person to be unable to accept God’s love, will not allow peace with themselves, and will not give or receive love from others. It’s a matter of restructuring our entire spiritual personality by removing the armor that has become part of our lives spiritually and psychologically.
